Youth Group Applauds Court Ruling on Tantita Security Contract

The Ethnic Youth Leader Council Nigeria (EYLCN) has commended the Federal Capital Territory High Court's decision to refuse a halt on the renewal of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd's pipeline surveillance contract. This ruling is viewed as a significant victory for Nigeria's economy and national security.

Comrad Meliga Godwin, the group's coordinator, highlighted the strategic importance of Tantita in protecting the nation's oil infrastructure, particularly in light of the severe losses Nigeria has faced due to crude oil theft, which reportedly reached 250,000 barrels per day, costing the country billions in revenue. The court's decision is seen as a reaffirmation of Tantita's role in curbing oil theft, which has significantly decreased since the company began its operations.

The group urged the federal government to renew the contract promptly and resist pressures to fragment it among multiple operators, praising the leadership of Tantita, including High Chief Kestin Pondi and Matthew Tonlagha, and calling for recognition of the company's contributions to national development.
