NASS Supports Tantita Security's Pipeline Contract

On Wednesday, the National Assembly passed a unanimous vote supporting Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited's role in pipeline surveillance and protection across the Niger Delta. The assembly dismissed allegations against the firm, citing a lack of credible evidence.

Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere stated that the complaints were thoroughly reviewed and found to be without merit.

The lawmakers emphasized the importance of maintaining the current surveillance arrangement, with Sen. Jarigb Agom warning against disrupting a system that has yielded positive results.

Hon. Princ Okoji cautioned against splitting the contract, urging consolidation to strengthen existing gains.

Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abba, noted that Nigeria's oil production has risen significantly, reaching 1.8 million barrels per day, and described the outcome as a clear success story. The surveillance contract has also provided employment for thousands of youths in the Niger Delta, offering viable alternatives to criminal activities.

The assembly highlighted legislative measures aimed at curbing oil theft and improving the protection of oil infrastructure.
