Tanker Brake Failure Causes Multi-Vehicle Crash in Edo

On Sunday, a tanker transporting groundnut oil lost its brakes while descending the Ikpoba Hill section of Murtala Muhammed Way in Benin City, Edo State, resulting in a collision with five vehicles and leaving five individuals injured. Eyewitness Ken Omusi reported that the driver struggled to regain control after the brake failure but ultimately lost control upon hitting a pothole near the Ikpoba River Bridge.

The collision caused significant traffic disruption as emergency responders, including personnel from the Edo State Emergency Management Agency, the Federal Road Safety Corps, police, and fire service, arrived to assist the injured, clear the wreckage, and restore traffic flow. Preye Ezekiel Bedford, the Edo State Sector Commander of the FRSC, confirmed that there were no fatalities from the incident, although three of the injured were taken to the hospital for medical care.
