Five killed in Ibadan tanker crash on Iwo Road-Ojoo Expressway

On Saturday at around 10 am, a diesel tanker lost its brakes and crashed into multiple vehicles on the Iwo Road-Ojoo Expressway in Ibadan, Oyo State, resulting in the deaths of five individuals. The accident took place at Aduloju Bus Stop, opposite Dominion City, and involved a fully loaded diesel tanker and several Nissan Micra commercial cars.
The General Manager of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority, Adeoye Ayoade, stated that the crash was triggered by a traffic build-up caused by a long trailer carrying motor spare parts that had broken down at around 5 am in the Arilogu area. The tanker rolled over one of the Micra cars, killing all five occupants, which included two males and three females.
Olayinka Ayanlade, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and noted that the Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, directed local patrol teams to secure the scene and assist the victims. The bodies were taken to Adeoyo Hospital Mortuary, and the damaged vehicles were towed to a police station.
Traffic was later restored on the route.
