Taraba APC Opposes N1m Fee for Local Government Chairmanship Race

The Taraba State APC is protesting against the N1 million fee imposed by the Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC) for local government chairmanship aspirants. The APC State Chairman, Barr Ibrahim Tukur, argues that the fee is against the Supreme Court pronouncement and the Nigerian Constitution.

The TSIEC guidelines require a hefty fee for chairmanship aspirants, with male councillorship aspirants also expected to pay. The opposition party claims the fee is a tactic to disenfranchise candidates and calls for its removal to ensure fair elections.
