Taraba CJ Supports Tinubu's State Police Initiative

Justice Joel Agya, the Chief Judge of Taraba State, expressed support for President Bola Tinubu's initiative to establish state police in Nigeria. Speaking at a fundraising dinner on Saturday night organized by the Wukari Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, Agya described the move as a bold step towards addressing the increasing wave of crime across the country.

He highlighted that state police would employ local individuals familiar with their communities, which could enhance law enforcement effectiveness. Agya commended the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association for organizing the event and encouraged attendees to donate towards the construction of a secretariat complex for the Wukari branch.

Mr. Hassan Saubana, the chairman of the Wukari branch, noted the inadequacy of manpower in the judiciary as a significant challenge to the administration of justice in the southern part of the state.

The event marked the conclusion of a two-day law week program organized by the Wukari branch of the NBA.
