Taraba Governor Agbu Kefa Enhances Border Security Measures

On Wednesday, Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefa vowed to strengthen border security along the Cameroon boundary and inter-state routes. In a communiqué issued at the end of a security meeting held in Jalingo, Kefa indicated that security measures would be enhanced through improved patrols and intelligence sharing.

The communiqué outlined plans for greater cooperation among border communities and emphasized the need for local government involvement at the ward and community levels. It also highlighted the importance of early warning systems and rapid response structures to prevent violence, particularly concerning land boundary disputes and mining activities.

The communiqué stated that local governments would identify and document vulnerable locations, including criminal routes and areas affected by illegal mining. A task force will be mobilized to ensure compliance with security measures and to address issues related to illegal mining operations.
