Taraba State Begins Payment of Five Months' Salary Arrears
On Tuesday, the Taraba State Government commenced the payment of five months' outstanding salary arrears owed to local government workers. This initiative was disclosed by Mr. Godfrey Dame, the Permanent Secretary in the Bureau for Local Government, Traditional and Chieftaincy Affairs, during the payment exercise in Sunkani, Ardo-Kola Local Government Area.
The payment follows a directive from Governor Agbu Kefas to clear the salary arrears that have accumulated since 2015 across the state's 16 local government areas. Initially, beneficiaries will receive one month of salary arrears each, with the remaining payments to be processed gradually in subsequent months.
The payment also includes local government primary school teachers and retirees. Mr. Dame encouraged beneficiaries to support the Kefas administration in its efforts.
