Taraba State to Prosecute Stray Livestock Owners

The Taraba State government, through the Environmental and Sanitation Agency, announced plans to arrest and prosecute livestock owners who allow their animals to roam freely within the state metropolis. Hon. Iliya Kefas, the chairman of the Agency, made this declaration while overseeing the monthly sanitation exercise in Jalingo.

He expressed concern over the sanitation and traffic violations caused by straying animals, which he stated could lead to environmental disorder and traffic obstructions, endangering residents' lives. Hon. Kefas urged livestock owners to restrict their animals' movements to avoid penalties.

He emphasized the importance of the monthly sanitation exercise, which aims to maintain a hygienic environment in Taraba. The chairman also called on residents to adopt cleanliness practices beyond designated sanitation hours and to support the government's efforts for a cleaner state.

He reiterated that the sanitation initiative is ongoing and that the government will provide necessary equipment for waste management across all local government areas.
