Taraba Bans Free Movement of Animals in Damaturu

The Taraba State government, through the Taraba State Environmental Sanitation Agency, has implemented a ban on the free movement of all forms of animals, including dogs, livestock, and chickens, within the state capital, Damaturu. Hon Iliya Kefas, the executive chairman of the agency, announced this decision during the monitoring of the monthly sanitation exercise in Jalingo.

He expressed concerns over sanitation and traffic rule violations caused by straying animals, which he stated could lead to environmental disorder and traffic obstruction, endangering residents' lives. Kefas warned that the agency would begin arresting and prosecuting livestock owners who allow their animals to roam freely.

He praised Governor Agbu Kefas for recognizing the agency's performance and emphasized the importance of the monthly sanitation exercise in maintaining a hygienic environment. Kefas called on residents to support the agency's efforts and adopt daily cleanliness habits to improve public health.
