Taraba State Enforces Land Sale Restrictions for Development

The Taraba State Government has issued a directive prohibiting all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) from selling, allocating, leasing, or disposing of government land without prior approval from the state government. This announcement was made by Dr Mark Ma’aku Joshua, the Director-General of the Taraba Geographic Information Service (TAGIS), on Monday in Jalingo.

The directive is part of the enforcement of the Greater Jalingo Master Plan, which aims to ensure orderly urban development and protect government-owned land within the state capital territory. Dr Joshua emphasized that any transactions conducted outside the approved process would be deemed null and void.

He stated that all land within a 30-kilometre radius of the Greater Jalingo area has been comprehensively planned, and no land should be sold or developed without TAGIS's express approval. The enforcement of this plan is intended to prevent indiscriminate development, protect public assets, and promote sustainable urban growth.
