Taraba State Records 398 HIV/AIDS Deaths in 2025, Calls for Urgent Action

Taraba State AIDS Control Agency (TACA) revealed that 398 individuals died from HIV/AIDS in the 3rd and 2nd quarters of 2025, with a total of 50,310 people infected and receiving antiretroviral therapy. Governor Agbu Kefa emphasized the importance of collective responsibility to end the HIV/AIDS public health threat, ensuring marginalized groups have access to care.

Despite challenges like the withdrawal of foreign aid, efforts are ongoing to reduce infection rates and deaths. Concerns have been raised about the high death rate among the 50,000 people living with HIV/AIDS in Taraba State.
