Nigeria Partners with 100 Countries to Track Remote Workers' Income for Tax Enforcement

Nigeria, through the leadership of Taiwo Oyedele, is collaborating with over 100 countries to monitor the income of remote workers for tax compliance. The government is focusing on tax reforms, including agreements with tech companies, to tackle issues related to taxing the digital economy.

Despite challenges in recent tax legislation, efforts are being made to implement reforms effectively from January 1, 2026, without retroactive taxation. President Bola Tinubu signed a bill into law on June 26, 2025, to support these tax reforms.
