Nigerian Government Targets Remote Worker Earnings with Global Tax Pact

The Nigerian government has unveiled a new international tax cooperation initiative led by Taiwo Oyedele to monitor the earnings of Nigerian remote workers employed by foreign entities. This initiative, in partnership with 100 countries, will facilitate automatic exchange of information to improve transparency and curb revenue leakages.

The collaboration with FIRS will enable access to verified income data of Nigerian residents in participating nations, ensuring accurate tax assessments. This move aligns with the government's broader tax reform agenda to modernize compliance systems and adopt global best practices in taxation.
