FIRS Becomes NRS in Nigeria's Tax Reform Drive

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) in Nigeria has rebranded to the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) in line with the country's tax reform efforts. The new identity signifies a focus on enhancing revenue administration efficiency and supporting taxpayers.

The rebranding was unveiled by FIRS officials including Zacch Adedeji and Dare Adekanmbi, with President Bola Tinubu present. Additionally, plans to introduce tax-exempt cards for small businesses were disclosed as part of ongoing tax reforms.

Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform, Taiwo Oyedele, emphasized the need for tax system restructuring to benefit low-income earners and small businesses.
