Nigeria's Tax Revenue Hits N21.6 Trillion Amid Reforms

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna state reported that Nigeria's national tax revenue has risen to N21.6 trillion since President Bola Tinubu implemented tax reforms in 2026. This announcement was made during the 160th Joint Revenue Board meeting in Kaduna, themed "One Year Of Tax Reform: Assessing Progress and Addressing Challenges." Sani noted that revenue figures were approximately ₦10.1 trillion in 2023, ₦21.6 trillion in 2024, and projected to reach about ₦36.8 trillion in 2025.

He highlighted a 49 percent increase in revenue for the first half of 2026 compared to the previous year. The governor commended President Tinubu for his decisive actions in reforming Nigeria's tax architecture and recognized Zach Adedeji, Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, for his leadership in advancing the tax reform agenda.

Sani also acknowledged the efforts of Jerry Adams, the immediate past Executive Chairman of KADIRS, for increasing the state's internally generated revenue from N4 billion to N10 billion monthly. He emphasized that the reforms aim to simplify the tax environment and improve the relationship between the government and taxpayers.
