TCN and Police Arrest Suspect for Tower Vandalism

On July 29, 2026, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) discovered that six of its transmission towers, identified as T995, T998, T999, T1002, T1003, and T1004 along the Yola–Jalingo 330kV Transmission Line, had been vandalized. During a routine line patrol, TCN Engineers found that critical bracing members had been stripped from the towers, with an estimated 130 pieces of tower members stolen, posing a severe structural threat.

In response, TCN conducted a joint raid with the Nigeria Police Force on July 30, 2026, engaging the village head and youth leadership for assistance in identifying the perpetrators. On August 1, 2026, the Police informed TCN that a principal suspect had been arrested and some stolen materials recovered.

TCN officials verified the recovered items and called for the full prosecution of the suspect. The Police are pursuing further leads to apprehend additional members of the vandalism syndicate, with ongoing investigations.

TCN condemned the vandalism, urging communities to report suspicious activities.
