TCN Prevents Theft at Bauchi Substation, Recovers Parts

On the weekend, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) reported that it successfully foiled a theft attempt at its 330/132kV transmission substation in Bauchi around 9:34 PM. Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, stated that security personnel intercepted suspected vandals who were attempting to remove critical tower members.

Upon noticing the guards, the suspects fled the scene. Following an inspection, TCN recovered 12 transmission tower angle irons, one heavy-duty metal measuring scale, and a white pickup truck believed to have been used in the operation.

The recovered items and the vehicle were handed over to the Railway Division Police Station in Bauchi for further investigation. TCN confirmed that no equipment was stolen and no injuries were reported during the incident.

The company commended its security team for their prompt response, which prevented potential theft or damage to vital transmission infrastructure, and urged host communities to report any suspicious activities around power installations.
