TCN Denies Kaduna Electric's Claims on Jos Power Supply

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) issued a statement on Thursday refuting claims made by Kaduna Electric that a fault on the 330kV Jos transmission line led to reduced power supply in its franchise area. TCN stated that all 330kV transmission lines connected to Jos were operational and transmitting bulk electricity.

The company characterized Kaduna Electric's assertions as “false and a deliberate misrepresentation of facts,” clarifying that there had been no disruption of bulk power transmission since the restoration of the Jos–Lafia 330kV Line 2 circuit breaker on August 24, following a routine voltage control operation initiated on August 23. TCN urged Kaduna Electric and other stakeholders to verify facts with them before making public statements, emphasizing their commitment to stable and reliable bulk power transmission.

Kaduna Electric had previously attributed the reduced power supply to an outage at the Shiroro Generating Station and a fault on the Jos transmission line, stating they received 104 megawatts on August 25.
