TCN Calls for Community Support Against Power Vandalism

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has called on communities to help combat the vandalism of power infrastructure. General Manager Charl Iwuamadi stressed the importance of grassroots support from residents to address the issue, which disrupts power supply across the country.

During a visit to Ijebu East Local Government Area in Ogun State, Iwuamadi warned that vandalism could lead to severe consequences, including fatalities. Matthew Ariyibi, Assistant General Manager of Technical Services at TCN, highlighted that the company has already discovered cases of tampering with transmission towers, which pose grave dangers to public safety.

He urged residents to report any suspicious activities and avoid constructing structures beneath power lines, as this could lead to legal repercussions. Otaru Abamiyo, Principal Manager of Health, Safety, and Environment, described the transmission facilities as critical national assets essential for economic growth.

He warned that vandalism not only disrupts electricity supply but also exposes communities to insecurity and economic hardship.
