Team Nigeria Completes Successful Tour D’Afrique 2026

Team Nigeria participated in the seventh edition of the Tour D’Afrique, completing a 1,110 km journey from June 12 to June 19, 2026. The event, themed "Ride Against Climate Change," served to commemorate World Bicycle Day and celebrate Nigeria's Democracy Day.

Femi Thoma, a board member of the Cycling Federation of Nigeria, stated that the team's performance would enhance Nigeria's standing on the global cycling stage. The tour involved 50 cyclists from various states and clubs across Nigeria and was coordinated in conjunction with ECOWAS.

Thoma, a former athlete, noted the unique experiences of participants, particularly first-timers, and highlighted the tour's alignment with three United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. He underscored the importance of the event beyond sports, reinforcing Nigeria's credibility in climate action within the region.
