Tour D’Afrique 2026 Concludes Successfully in Lagos

The Tour D’Afrique 2026 concluded with a return to Lagos, officially declaring the seventh edition of the cross-border cycling expedition a success. A 30-man contingent completed a grueling 1,110 km journey across four West African countries, culminating in a final stage covering 145 km from Cotonou, Benin Republic, to Lagos.

The event, which took place over seven days, involved professional cyclists from Nigeria, Benin Republic, Togo, and Ghana, and was themed around raising awareness against climate change. The contingent included 20 professional cyclists and 10 support staff, media, and logistics personnel.

Upon arrival in Lagos, they received a formal welcome from Princess Damilola Sonayan, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, whose presence was noted as a reflection of the state government's commitment to sports development and youth engagement in climate action. The event faced various challenges, including extreme fatigue and weather conditions, but the participants overcame these hurdles, marking a significant moment in the tour's history.

The tour was supported by Pocari Sweat as the official energy partner and Ibi Style Hotel, Accor Group, which provided hospitality during the Ghana leg.
