Iga Swiatek Appoints Francisco Roig as New Coach

Iga Swiatek, the Wimbledon champion, has announced her partnership with Francisco Roig, the former coach of Rafael Nadal and Emma Raducanu, as she seeks to turn around her inconsistent form. Swiatek, who has struggled to find her rhythm following her exit in the 2026 Australian Open and a quarter-final loss in Indian Wells, has won four out of six Grand Slam titles, including the French Open.

Roig, who is best known for his 17-year stint with Nadal, will prepare Swiatek for the upcoming clay court season. The 24-year-old confirmed the partnership via Instagram, expressing excitement for this new chapter.

Swiatek previously worked with Wim Fissett, under whom she won her first Wimbledon title in July, but faced a disappointing first-round loss at the Miami Open in March. Roig, 58, is recognized for identifying technical issues and has spent time coaching players like Feliciano Lopez and Matteo Berrettini.

Swiatek began her work with Roig at Nadal's academy in Manacor, Spain.
