Tension as Bandits Kill Pastor, 2 Others in Fresh Plateau Attack

Bandits have caused tension in Plateau State after killing three people, including Pastor Gideon Katings of Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in the Suwa Ding ak village of Mushere chiefdom, Bokkos Local Government Area. The attack occurred between 1pm and 2pm on Friday, August 8, 2027.

Several others were injured and are currently receiving treatment at Cottage Hospital Bokkos. This incident adds to a series of violent attacks in the area, leading to the displacement of hundreds of residents.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Alabo Alfred, could not be reached for comment. This tragic incident has garnered national and international attention, highlighting the failure of authorities to protect the community.

In a similar attack in May 2025, armed bandits killed a retired police officer and two others, further emphasizing the ongoing security challenges in the region.
