Just In: Bandits Attack Mosque, Kidnap Worshippers, Kill One

Armed bandits attacked a mosque in Marnona village, Wurno Local Government Area, Sokoto State during early morning prayers on Tuesday. The assailants opened fire on worshippers, killing one person and injuring several others, causing panic in the area.

The Chairman of the Sokoto East region of the Progressives Congress, Hon Isah Sadeeq Achida, condemned the attack as a barbaric act and extended condolences to the victim's family. In a separate incident, an armed group known as Wanke near Gusau reportedly kidnapped 100 people, including women, children, and the elderly.

Among the abductees were the chief imam of Wanke and a religious leader. The survivor of the attack recounted the chaos in the community.

Former senator Shehu Sani blamed corruption in Nigeria for the country's security challenges, suggesting that resources meant for security personnel are often misused.
