Court Sentences Battujo's Mother and Sister to 40 Years

On June 10, 2026, a Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced Safiya Salihu and Halima Abdullahi to 40 years in prison after they pleaded guilty to multiple terrorism-related charges. The women were arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) for their involvement with Kachallah Ibrahim Battujo, a known terrorist kingpin who was eliminated by Nigerian security forces.

Justice Hauwa Joseph Yilwa presided over the case, where the women were convicted on counts 2, 4, and 5 of the charges brought against them by the Attorney General of the Federation. They were found guilty of receiving N490,300 from Battujo, aiding his activities, and concealing information about his possession of firearms.

The court ordered that their sentences run concurrently, and they will undergo rehabilitation. The charges stemmed from their actions that contravened the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act of 2022.
