ADC Proposes Security Reforms Amid Terrorism Concerns

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed strong criticism of President Bola Tinubu's government, highlighting Nigeria's alarming position as the fourth most terror-affected country in the world, as reported in the 2026 Global Terror Index. ADC's national public secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, described this ranking as clear evidence of the failure of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government to secure the nation.

The ADC cited a 43 percent increase in terrorist attacks, with incidents rising from 120 in 2024 to 171 in 2025, alongside a surge in civilian casualties. The party emphasized the need for a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria's security architecture, proposing a three-point strategy that includes establishing a national intelligence coordination system, decentralizing police operations, and shifting towards intelligence-driven operations.

The ADC urged the government to demonstrate proactive leadership in addressing the worsening security challenges faced by the country.
