ADC Critiques Tinubu as Nigeria Ranks Fourth in Terrorism

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned President Bola Tinubu's administration, citing Nigeria's alarming ranking as the fourth most terror-affected country in the 2026 Global Terror Index (GTI). The report indicates a 43% rise in terror attacks, with incidents increasing from 120 in 2024 to 171 in 2025.

The ADC's statement, delivered by Abdullahi, emphasizes that the majority of these attacks and civilian casualties are attributed to groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP. The GTI report also identifies weak governance, economic instability, and hardship as underlying drivers of terrorism in Nigeria.

The ADC criticized the current security strategies, suggesting a need for improved intelligence coordination and a decentralized police system to enhance response times and accountability. They propose establishing a national intelligence coordination system and a joint terror task force to address the security challenges effectively.

The ADC aims to implement a proactive security framework that focuses on prevention rather than merely responding to attacks.
