Terrorists Attack Benisheikh, Six Soldiers Killed in Borno

On a Tuesday night around 11 PM, terrorists suspected to be from Boko Haram and ISWAP launched a fresh attack on Benisheikh, a town in Borno State along the Maiduguri-Damaturu road. The assault targeted a military base, specifically the 29 Task Force Brigade, which had recently faced attacks.

The Nigerian Army reported that six soldiers lost their lives during this incident. The attack was characterized by a fierce gun battle, but the troops successfully repelled the insurgents, forcing them to flee.

The military utilized fighter jets and helicopters to monitor the situation from Maiduguri, located 75 kilometers from Benisheikh. Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, a spokesperson for the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, expressed grief over the loss of the soldiers and commended their sacrifice in the ongoing fight against insurgency in the region.
