TETFund Invests N10 Billion in Polytechnic Skills Training

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has committed N10 billion to develop skills acquisition centres in polytechnics across Nigeria in 2026. This investment aims to strengthen practical training, promote entrepreneurship, and improve graduates' employability.
Aminu Masari, Chairman of TETFund’s Board of Trustees, announced this at the Fund’s 2026 National Board of Trustees Town Hall Meeting in Abuja. The meeting focused on assessing TETFund’s interventions in tertiary education and national development.
Masari stated that the N10 billion investment complements other initiatives, including N48 billion for upgrading engineering and technology facilities in 12 universities. TETFund has supported skills development in polytechnics for four years, selecting two institutions from each of the six geopolitical zones annually.
The programme also aims to enhance collaboration between polytechnics and artisans in the informal sector, providing structured training and recognized certification. Additionally, N6.09 billion has been approved for 174 research proposals under the 2025 National Research Fund grant cycle.
