TETFund Launches N6bn ICT Centres for Nigerian Tertiary Institutions

On September 4 and September 10, 2026, Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, inaugurated two of the six zonal ICT experience centres established by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) as part of the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Initiative. The centres, each costing N1 billion, are located at the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) in Calabar and the Federal Polytechnic, Oko in Anambra State.

The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide in Nigerian tertiary institutions by providing access to modern technology and practical learning opportunities. Four additional centres are planned at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti; Kaduna State University; Kwara State University; and Taraba State University.

TETFund Executive Secretary Sonny Echono emphasized that these centres represent an investment in people and possibilities. Dr. Chioma Awuzie, Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, stated that the centres would empower students with essential digital skills, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
