TETFund Launches Digital Centres for Nigerian Students

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) is implementing a new initiative to address the digital divide in Nigeria's tertiary institutions by establishing ICT Digital Experience Centres. The first of these centres was inaugurated at the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) in Calabar on September 6, 2026, by TETFund Executive Secretary, Arc.

Sonny Echono. This initiative aims to extend to over 270 beneficiary institutions, providing students with free access to computers, digital resources, and high-speed internet.

Echono emphasized that the project is part of a larger vision to standardize digital access across TETFund-supported institutions. The centres will help students who cannot afford personal computers or internet subscriptions, ensuring they can participate in digital academic activities.

The facilities will feature Wi-Fi connectivity, alternative power supply, and 24-hour internet access, addressing the challenges posed by unreliable electricity and internet services in Nigeria.
