Shehu Sani Claims Bandits Terrorizing Northern Nigeria Are Indigenous, Calls for Coordinated Action

Former Senator Shehu Sani stated on Arise TV that the bandits causing terror in northern Nigeria are indigenous to the country, contrary to claims linking them to Mali or Burkina Faso. Sani emphasized the need for a strategic approach to combat the estimated 5,000 bandits holding the nation of 230 million people to ransom.

He called for coordinated efforts involving traditional rulers, political leaders, civil society groups, and governors to address the existential threat posed by banditry affecting agriculture, education, and social life in the region.
