Justice Amina Adamu Augie Retires from Supreme Court

Justice Amina Adamu Augie, born Anne Eva Graham on September 3, 1953, in Lagos, retired from the Supreme Court of Nigeria on September 3, 2023, marking the end of a notable 45-year career in public service. Her educational journey included attending various schools across Nigeria and studying Law at the University of Ife from 1972 to 1977, followed by her call to the Bar in 1978.

Augie, who later adopted the Muslim name "Amina" after marrying Senator Adamu Baba Augie, was recognized for her significant contributions to the legal field and her engagement with Muslim civic life, serving on the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Board and receiving honors from the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN). Her career is characterized by her ability to navigate and resolve disputes across Nigeria's diverse geopolitical landscape, making her a pivotal figure in modern Nigerian jurisprudence.
