Lindsay Clancy's Trial: Mother Kills Three Children

On January 24, 2023, Lindsay Clancy, a 36-year-old former obstetric nurse from Duxbury, Massachusetts, strangled her three children, aged 5, 3, and 8 months, using an exercise band. This occurred within 25 minutes while her husband, Patrick Clancy, was away picking up takeout food and medication.

After the killings, Clancy attempted suicide by cutting her wrists and neck and jumping from a window, resulting in permanent paralysis from the waist down. She was found by her husband, who called 911.

Clancy did not deny the killings but her defense argues she was suffering from a severe mental health crisis that caused delusions and hallucinations, claiming she was overly medicated and had sought help for disturbing thoughts prior to the incident. The prosecution, however, contests her criminal liability.

The trial commenced in July 2026 after delays, and Clancy has raised nearly $1 million in public donations during this period.
