Wike Criticizes APC Governors as Politically Lazy

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has publicly criticized governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC), labeling them as politically lazy. This statement came after the APC governors, led by their chairman, Hope Uzodimma, the Governor of Imo State, expressed their opposition to Wike's Rainbow Coalition in the context of the upcoming 2027 general elections.

The APC governors declared that they would not support or endorse any alliance that could jeopardize President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid or affect APC candidates at any level. In an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Tuesday, Wike clarified that his support for Tinubu did not equate to abandoning his political party or agreeing to prevent other parties from fielding candidates.

He asserted that his understanding of the political landscape was superior to that of his critics, suggesting that their lack of insight contributed to their opposition. Wike stated, “They are politically lazy.
