Former Commissioner Okonkwo recently spoke out about an attack during a reception rally in Opi Nsukka, where Tinubu's posters were torn and shots were fired. He alleged that sponsored thugs destroyed the canopy and plastic seats in an attempt to disrupt the event.

Despite the attack, the rally was attended by various dignitaries, including the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Uche Nnaji. Okonkwo stated that the venue was attacked three times with sporadic shooting, but the attendees remained resilient.

The incident almost marred the event, which was also attended by the state party chairman and three members of the House of Representatives. The former Commissioner called for an investigation into the alleged attack.
