2026 Lagos City Marathon: Access Bank Releases Guidelines for Runner Safety and Hydration

The 2026 Lagos City Marathon, organized by Access Bank, has released detailed guidelines focusing on runner safety, hydration, and race logistics. The marathon will feature exclusive official hydration points along the course in partnership with Aquafina to ensure participants' safety and comfort.

The race will start at 6:30 am and close at 12:30 pm, with a strict six-hour cutoff time for the full 42-kilometer marathon. Participants are required to run within the official race window to qualify for medals.

Elite Nigerian athletes competing in the 42km race stand a chance to win cash prizes ranging from 50,000 to 2 million Naira. The organizers stress the importance of physical preparedness, requiring participants to present a medical certificate confirming their fitness to participate and sign a waiver releasing liability.

Registration for the marathon is free and can be done at Access Bank branches nationwide or online. The event will take place at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, with the marathon route spanning from Orca Shop Mall on Ahmadu Bello Way to Eko Atlantic City.
