Nigerian Runners to Earn N11m at Lagos City Marathon

The 11th Access Bank Lagos City Marathon has confirmed an additional N11 million cash prize for Nigerian runners competing in the 42km marathon race. The prize package is designed to reward local talent and strengthen grassroots elite long-distance running within Nigeria.

The prize structure applies to both male and female runners, with the top 10 finishers sharing a total of N5.5 million. The best Nigerian runner will earn N2 million, while the second and third positions will receive N1.5 million and N1 million, respectively.

The fourth and fifth place finishers will take home N500,000 and N200,000, with the sixth to tenth positions receiving N100,000 and N50,000 each. The commitment of N11 million reflects the marathon's mission to create opportunities for homegrown athletes and motivate participation.

Meanwhile, the overall winner will receive N50,000, the second-place finisher N200,000, and the third-place runner N15,000. The fourth and fifth place finishers will earn N12,000 and N10,000, respectively.
