39 Advisers and 14 LG Chairmen Defect to APC in Adamawa

In a significant political shift in Adamawa State, thirty-nine special advisers and fourteen local government chairmen have defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Governor Ahmadu Fintiri announced this decision during a statewide broadcast on Friday afternoon.

The special advisers, operating under the Special Advisers Forum, cited prolonged internal disputes and litigation within the PDP at the national level as reasons for their departure. Bala Buba Jada, the chairman of the forum, emphasized that the decision was made in the overriding interest of Adamawa State to safeguard its strategic position within the federation.

The fourteen local government chairmen, led by Sulaiman Gangkuba, chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), also stated their decision followed extensive consultations and was not coerced. Seven council chairmen have yet to decide on their defection.

The local government chairmen who joined the APC include representatives from various councils such as Toungo, Gany, Mayo Belwa, and others.
