APC Condemns US Lawmakers' Proposal for Visa Ban on Kwankwaso Over Religious Freedom Violations

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized a bill introduced by US lawmakers proposing a visa ban and asset freeze on former Kano State Governor Kwankwaso for alleged religious freedom violations in Nigeria. The APC Director of Public, Bala Ibrahim, cautioned against taking action solely based on allegations.

The bill, titled "Nigeria Religious Freedom Account Act 2026," was introduced by US Representatives Chris Smith, Riley Moore, and Brian Mast. The APC urged fair hearings and due process, emphasizing that Kwankwaso's freedom of movement should not be curtailed unjustifiably.

The bill targets individuals or networks responsible for severe violations and urges the designation of certain Fulani ethnic militias as foreign terrorist organizations under US law.
