Kwankwassiya Movement and NNPP Reject U.S. Visa Ban on Kwankwaso Over Alleged Religious Freedom Violations

The Kwankwassiya Movement and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have rejected the proposed U.S. visa ban and asset freeze on Nigerian politician Rabiu Kwankwaso. This rejection comes in response to the introduction of the Nigeria Religious Freedom Account Act of 2026 by the U.S.

Congress, recommending sanctions against Kwankwaso and the Miyetti Allah group. The Kwankwassiya Movement's spokesman, Mansur Kurugu, expressed surprise at the development, emphasizing that Kwankwaso's public record does not support allegations of religious freedom violations.

Ladipo Johnson, the NNPP's National Public Secretary, defended Kwankwaso's political history, highlighting his efforts to combat religious extremism and his close relationship with Christian leaders in Kano. The NNPP condemned the proposed sanctions as an attempt to tarnish Kwankwaso's reputation and viewed them as politically motivated rather than based on credible investigations.
