Yakasai: Obi, Kwankwaso Defections Favor Tinubu in 2027

Salisu Tanko Yakasai, a former governorship candidate for the People's Redemption Party (PRP) in Kano, commented on the recent defections of Peter Obi and Kwankwaso to the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He argued that these defections create divisions within the opposition coalition, which could ultimately favor Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections.

Yakasai expressed concern that the formation of two opposing platforms, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and NDC, might complicate efforts to present a united front against Tinubu's party. He warned that this split could lead to a divided opposition vote, which would benefit Tinubu's chances in the presidential race.

Yakasai reaffirmed his loyalty to the ADC and urged the coalition to reduce tensions and remain open to future cooperation, emphasizing the necessity of collaboration ahead of the 2027 polls.
