Three Vikings Confraternity Members Arrested in Uyo

On July 5, 2026, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested three suspected members of the Vikings Confraternity in Uyo. The operation was conducted based on intelligence that led to a raid on a residential building off Abak Road, identified as a hideout for cult-related activities and illicit drug abuse.

The suspects, Dick Udofia, Emem Charl, and Ubong Matthew, admitted to their membership in the confraternity. Ubong Matthew was allegedly forcefully initiated into the group.

During the same operation, Joshua Akpan, a 32-year-old security guard employed by a private security company, was arrested for his involvement in vandalizing electrical cables at a church and a government facility. The police recovered stolen property and tools used in the crime.

Baba Moham Azar, the Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, commended the swift response of the police and reiterated their commitment to dismantling criminal networks and combating cultism and drug-related crimes.
