Mob Burns Suspected Killers of Plateau Monarch in Anger

On Friday, three individuals suspected of killing traditional ruler Ponzhi Kwallak were set ablaze by a mob in the Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State. Kwallak was reportedly killed on Thursday night when assailants stormed his residence, stealing a motorcycle and mobile phone.

Following the incident, the suspects were apprehended while allegedly attempting to sell the stolen motorcycle and reportedly confessed to the crime. However, as security operatives were transporting the suspects, the mob intercepted them and set the suspects ablaze near the Langtang North Local Government Council secretariat.

Danladi Mark, a resident, described the incident as a reflection of growing frustration over insecurity and delays in justice, emphasizing the community's anger towards a perceived failure of the justice system to protect lives and property. The incident underscores a breakdown of trust in the justice system, warning that vigilante justice could thrive in such an environment.

Efforts to reach Alabo Alfr, a spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, were unsuccessful.
