Thugs Assault THISDAY Correspondent in Ebonyi State

Comrade Benjamin Nwori, a correspondent for THISDAY, was assaulted in Ebonyi State by three assailants allegedly connected to Mr. Peac Agwu, the chairman of Ishielu Local Government Area.

The incident took place early on Monday morning when the thugs confronted Nwori at his residence in Ugwuechara, Abakaliki. They knocked on his gate, initiated a quarrel, and forcibly entered, leading to a physical assault where Nwori was beaten and threatened with death.

This attack is reportedly linked to ongoing challenges Nwori has faced regarding access to his home, which has been obstructed by construction materials associated with the local government chairman's activities. Nwori expressed fears for the safety of himself and his family and sought intervention from security agencies.

Mr. Peac Agwu denied any involvement in the attack, labeling the allegations as false and claiming he did not send anyone to attack Nwori.
