Thugs Raid Kano GSM Market, Steal Valuables in Daylight

On the afternoon of the incident, thugs attacked the Kano GSM market, specifically targeting Yayo Plaza, which is located on Zaria Road. The attack occurred around 12 PM and involved the assailants using dangerous weapons in broad daylight to steal mobile phones and other valuables from traders, buyers, and passersby.

The situation escalated to the point where the entire plaza was shut down, with the ground floor shops being the worst affected. Trader Ibrahim Sanusi Almanzawi reported that the thugs blocked access to neighboring businesses on Zaria Road for several minutes, forcing commuters to turn back and causing serious traffic disruptions.

Police later intervened, using tear gas in an effort to disperse the crowd, but their attempts to reach the scene were initially unsuccessful. The Kano State Police Public Relations Office did not respond to a text message sent for comment.

The GSM market is known as the largest mobile phone and computer accessories market in Kano, primarily frequented by youth.
