Six Arrested After Violent Attack on Kano Phone Market

On April 27, 2026, the Kano State Police Command confirmed the arrest of six suspects involved in an attack on a popular mobile phone market at Farm Centre in Kano metropolis. The incident, which occurred during broad daylight, involved armed thugs, referred to as "yan daba," who clashed violently with police forces.

Upon receiving a distress call, a patrol team was deployed to the scene, where they encountered a chaotic situation with thugs attempting to vandalize and loot properties. The police confronted the attackers, who regrouped and launched further assaults, including throwing stones at the officers.

The police managed to repel the hoodlums, who subsequently fled the area. The police emphasized their commitment to maintaining public peace and warned that anyone engaging in such acts would face arrest and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers for their restraint and swift response, which prevented further escalation of the situation.
