TikTok Removes 4.8M Videos in Nigeria in Q1 2026

In the first quarter of 2026, TikTok removed more than 4.8 million videos in Nigeria, representing 0.6 percent of all content uploaded by Nigerian users during that period. The Q1 2026 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report indicated that 99.8 percent of the violative videos were detected proactively, with 92.8 percent taken down within 24 hours.

TikTok also suspended 120,000 LIVE sessions in Nigeria for violating community guidelines, an increase of about 40,000 from the previous reporting period. Globally, TikTok removed over 184 million videos, reflecting ongoing investments in content moderation.

The platform attributed its enforcement success to collaboration with the office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and civil society organizations. Additionally, TikTok removed over 118,000 Nigerian posts related to edited media and AI-generated content.

The company announced plans to launch an in-app AI Literacy Hub for Nigerian users and committed over $4 million to its AI Literacy Fund, collaborating with organizations like CJID and Paradigm Initiative to promote AI education.
