TikTok Removes 4.8M Videos in Nigeria in Q1 2026

In the first quarter of 2026, TikTok removed more than 4.8 million videos in Nigeria as part of its efforts to combat harmful content and enhance Artificial Intelligence safety measures, according to its Q1 2026 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report. This removal represented 0.6 percent of all content uploaded by Nigerian users during the period.

TikTok reported that 99.8 percent of the violative videos were detected proactively, with 92.8 percent taken down within 24 hours. Additionally, TikTok suspended 120,000 LIVE sessions in Nigeria for violating community guidelines, an increase of about 40,000 from the previous reporting period.

Globally, TikTok removed over 184 million videos, representing 0.5 percent of uploads. The platform also removed more than 118,000 Nigerian posts related to edited media and AI-generated content.

TikTok announced plans to launch an in-app AI Literacy Hub for Nigerian users and committed over $4 million to its AI Literacy Fund, collaborating with organizations like the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development and Paradigm Initiative.
